Daunt Books

This is one of the most beautiful bookstores in London. Although Daunt books has multiple stores in London but I have only visited the one in Marylebone. This is a huge bookstore with 3 floors. There are sections divided in the bookstores based on different countries. For e.g. All the books by Indian authors are kept in the section dedicated to India. Overall, it is a very well organized and beautiful bookstore.

Word on the water

As the title literally suggests, this bookstore is located on a canal barge. 100% credit to the unique idea by the owner. It is such a tastefully done boat turned bookstore. It also has some sitting chairs and sofa kept inside to read or take some insta-worthy pictures along with buying books. One of my favorite purchases from there is the book called The sentence by Louise Erdrich.

Lutyens & Rubinstein

This is a bookshop located in the most popular and bustling area of London called The Notting hill. In the frenzy of visiting the hugely popular Notting hill bookshop, please do not forget about this small independent bookstore which has a magnificent décor with book paper on the ceiling. I cherish my purchase of Love After Love by Ingrid Persuad from there.

Waterstones

Waterstones is a very popular book retailer which has more than 200 shops all over the United Kingdom. In some of the outlets, there is also a Waterstones Cafe where you can read, drink, eat, work thus spending a lot of time in the vicinity of books. Due to its easy availability, I have visited a lot of their stores in different locations across London. They have a standard layout across the stores and a team of helpful staff.

Battersea bookshop

Located in Battersea power station shopping outlet. This one was a surprise for me. The store is so tastefully done – nothing like your typical shopping center bookstore. The aesthetic of the store is very neutral colored, so all those who like minimalist decorations, are going to love it. If you are ever in the shopping center, I suggest visiting it at least once. I purchased Killing Commendatore by Haruki Murakami there, yet to read it. Hope it impresses me as much as the bookstore did!
