Top Supernatural shows I recommend if you love vampires

The Vampire Diaries

When I started exploring the world of English TV shows, this was one of the first shows I watched. I was completely hooked and binge-watched all the seasons available at that time. I, immediately knew I am going to explore the world of vampires. This show has all the elements I love – romance, love triangle, attractive cast, drama, action, and mystery. I think, at this point, most of us already know about this show. One of the best shows to start your journey into the vampire craze.

The Originals

The Originals is the spin-off series of The Vampire Diaries, and honestly, is better than The Vampire Diaries. This show follows the story of the original vampires from whom the entire vampire lines are sired. If The Vampire Diaries caters more to the interest of the teenagers, The Originals has more of an adult theme with more politics, violence, action, etc. Apart from the supernatural element, what I love about this series is the value and unconditional love shown for the family. I still go to YouTube and watch some of my favorite scenes from this series on repeat.

True Blood

Now, True Blood is not for everyone. While the first two shows mentioned above still have some bearable violence, this one has some gory scenes. Set in Louisiana, True Blood follows the story of barmaid Sookie Stackhouse who meets a vampire named Bill Compton and falls in love with him and what follows are insane turn of events. Honestly, if you see the pattern of these TV shows, almost every one of them starts with a girl falling in love with a handsome vampire and then craziness follows.

A Discovery of Witches

A Discovery of Witches is a very interesting series where a witch falls in love with a vampire in a world where it is forbidden to mingle with creatures of the “other” species, let alone, fall in love and reproduce mixed children. The entire series focuses on this tussle with elements of time travel involved as well. I absolutely loved watching it. A Discovery of Witches is a breath of fresh air from the stereotypical vampire shows. It’s a must watch with only 3 seasons based on the 3 books written by Deborah Harkness.

What We Do in the Shadows

I saved best for the last. What We Do in the Shadows is a mockumentary following the life of four vampires living together in a house with their human familiar who helps them in navigating the world of humans. This is a very funny TV series with a fresh perspective on many worldly problems. The entire cast’s acting is fabulous. A very quick and easy watch.
